Madeira O´Festival 2009 is still one of my greatest memory in orienteering. I was positively surprised by the challenges this Island had to offer to orienteers, and all the stages had their unique character. It was a time of my life I was pretty well trained, and with my friend Francois Gonon from the French team, we were adding quite many kilometers after the stages to discover the island. This was definitively a memorable trip as the final stage got cancelled due to the snow, and the challenge for cars to get up to the plateau at the top of the island. But we still manage to experience this map, and it was quite an unique experience!

Since my first visit in Madeira (2018) I love coming back. The excellent trails (both flat levada's and steep hills), beautiful views and wonderful nature are amazing. Madeira has it all. The orienteering maps and terrains are very diverse and unique. MOF is a high-level competition I would 100% recommend to do at least once in your life to enjoy the lovely hospitality in Madeira.

O MOF tornou-se um "must go", seja para mim ou para quem eu possa influenciar. Desde 2023, para mim, esta tem sido a 1.ª corrida do ano que espero cada vez mais com ansiedade. Excelentes mapas, percursos cuidadosamente planeados, bom tempo (para os padrões de Janeiro) e uma ótima ilha para visitar; o que mais um orientista poderia desejar? 2026 não será diferente, tenho certeza.

In connection with MOF 2025, I did my first trip to Maderia, which has been on my bucket list for a long time. The races exceeded my expectations with challenging courses on high quality maps in varied terrain. In addition, the opportunities for trail running in a pleasant climate, with incredible views, gave me a perfect training week during the winter training.
